In one of the most electrifying UEFA Champions League semi-final clashes in recent memory, Barcelona and Inter Milan played out a 3-3 draw at the OlÃmpic LluÃs Companys Stadium — a night packed with drama, wonder goals, and what-ifs.
Inter Milan wasted no time setting the tone, scoring just 30 seconds into the match. Marcus Thuram’s cheeky backheel finish from Denzel Dumfries’ low cross not only stunned the home crowd but also made history as the fastest goal ever in a UCL semi-final. Dumfries wasn’t done — the Dutchman doubled the lead with an acrobatic overhead kick in the 21st minute but Barcelona had no plans to bow out quietly.
Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old prodigy, who responded just three minutes later with a dazzling solo effort — cutting in and curling a shot into the far corner that left Sommer rooted. Before halftime, Ferran Torres capitalized on Raphinha’s low cross to make it 2-2.
The second half brought more fireworks. Dumfries headed in his second of the night from a deep Calhanoglu corner in the 63rd minute, but once again Barcelona hit back — this time with a stroke of luck, as Raphinha’s strike hit the bar and bounced in off Inter keeper Yann Sommer.
Both teams had chances to win it late. Mkhitaryan had a goal ruled out by VAR and Yamal struck the bar again but neither side could deliver the knockout blow.
With the tie finely balanced, all eyes now turn to the second leg at the San Siro on Tuesday, May 6. Can either side find the edge in this heavyweight battle?
