Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was reportedly stabbed in prison on Monday, May 12, 2025. The incident occurred at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, where the rapper is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
According to official reports, Lanez was attacked by another inmate around 7:20 AM during morning yard time. The altercation turned violent, leaving the 32-year-old with 14 stab wounds—seven in the back, four in the torso, two to the back of the head, and one to the face. Both of his lungs reportedly collapsed due to the injuries.
Lanez was immediately rushed to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield, where he received emergency treatment. Sources close to the rapper say he is now in stable condition, breathing on his own, and said to be in good spirits despite the severity of the attack.
The motive for the stabbing remains unclear, and prison authorities have launched a full investigation. So far, no suspects have been publicly named, and Lanez’s legal team has yet to issue a formal statement.
Lanez was sentenced in 2023 after being found guilty on three felony charges related to the shooting incident involving rapper Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. His time behind bars has attracted considerable public interest, and this recent incident has once again put him in the spotlight.
