The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has increased the fee for correcting date of birth (DOB) details on the National Identification Number (NIN) database from ₦16,340 to a new price of ₦28,574. This update was made public in NIMC’s revised Schedule of Fees, Licenses and Permits (Version 3.0), which outlines the latest service charges for NIN-related services.
Why the Fee Was Increased
According to NIMC, the new price reflects the need to adjust for inflation and rising operational costs, especially since the previous charges had remained unchanged for over a decade. With Nigeria’s inflation rate at 32.70%, NIMC says this update is essential for maintaining and improving its services.
