Benue Killings: “Nigerians are Dying, President Nowhere to be Found,” Atiku Fires Tinubu Again

In a nation already battling inflation, unemployment, and insecurity, another layer of tension has erupted—this time from the political elite.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has once again come for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and this time, his words are piercing. He’s not mincing words. Atiku is openly accusing the Tinubu administration of “utter incompetence” and “complete failure” in the face of devastating killings in Benue State that have claimed the lives of at least 56 Nigerians in recent days.

Atiku’s statements are more than political jabs—they are reflections of a growing national frustration. “Nigerians are dying,” he said, condemning the lack of empathy and urgency from the leadership in Aso Rock. According to him, the presidency has become so disconnected from the pain of the people that it’s no longer responding with the gravity these situations demand.

“There is a disturbing air of silence, a worrisome lack of empathy, and a total absence of decisive action,” Atiku lamented.

President Tinubu, in response, issued a formal condemnation of the Benue killings and directed security agencies to “fish out the perpetrators.” He also urged religious and community leaders to foster peace and called on state governments to assist displaced victims.

But Nigerians are asking—is condemnation enough?

Social media is buzzing with reactions:

  • “Where is the political will to act?”

  • “Has Nigeria become a nation where lives are just statistics?”

  • “Why is this government always reactive, never proactive?”

As tensions rise and the opposition grows louder, this situation is no longer just about Benue. It’s about national security, trust in leadership, and the accountability of those at the top.

Do you think Atiku is speaking for the people—or just playing politics? Should Tinubu be doing more, or is this criticism unfair?

Let’s talk. Nigeria deserves better—but who will deliver it?
