Albares summons the Argentine ambassador to Spain and threatens to break relations

VALENCIA (EP). The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albareshas summoned the Argentine ambassador to Spain this morning at the Ministry headquarters, Roberto Boschto demand that the president of his country, Javier Mileiexpressed some “public apologies” after accusing the wife of the president of the Government of being “corrupt”, Pedro Sanchez.

As explained in an interview in La1collected by Europa Presshe himself will be the one who “personally” receives the Argentine ambassador, when the normal thing is that in this type of case it is another senior official of the Ministry who does so, and will demand “public apologies.”

In a previous interview at Chain Beingcollected by Europa Pressthe minister has also left the door open to breaking relations with Argentina if Milei does not apologize for what he has considered an “attack” and “interference” in Spain’s internal politics, after referring to Sánchez’s family environment in a event organized by Vox on Sunday in Madrid.

“This morning I have summoned the ambassador of Argentina (Javier Bosch) and I am going to convey to him the demand for a public apology from Javier Milei. We expect those apologies and from now on we will act accordingly if there are none,” said the head of Spanish diplomacy.

“It is a unique fact in the presidents who visit Spain, and totally unique in the presidents of Latin America, who always on their first visit request meetings with various Spanish institutions” that Milei did not do so on his first visit to Spain, he has argued in another interview on Onda Cero.

Despite this, all the necessary means were made available to him and “he responded with this frontal attack that, of course, we cannot allow,” he added, insisting on the seriousness of the attack on the institutions taking place in the capital.

The Government will act “accordingly” if there is no apology

“We expect and demand these public apologies and we will act accordingly as the events occur,” he stressed. Expressly asked if the next thing will be the breaking of relations with Argentina, the minister has indicated that it is not something that will be announced “in advance” but that he will act when he has to.

On the other hand, Albares has admitted that if Milei’s statements had taken place in Buenos Aires and not in Madrid during the event organized by Vox “there would have been a reaction, of course, but it is exceptionally serious that this has happened in Spain, in the first visit made by the president of Argentina, when in addition he has not requested any interview or meeting with any Spanish institution.”

The statements by the Minister of Foreign Affairs take place a day after he called the Spanish ambassador in Argentina for consultations ‘sine die’, which represents the temporary withdrawal of the Spanish representative from the Latin American country. He did so in reaction to Milei’s reference to the wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, whom she accused of being “corrupt.”

Yesterday Albares demanded “apologies” in an institutional statement from the Moncloa Complex by the Argentine president, warning that if this does not occur, he will take “all measures” that he considers appropriate to defend Spanish “sovereignty and dignity.”

Díaz criticizes the business community and Garamendi says it was a professional meeting

On the other hand, the second vice president, minister of Labor and Social Economy and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Diazdescribed this Monday as a “serious mistake” that Spanish businessmen met this weekend in Madrid with the Argentine president, Javier Milei, “knowing that it is not the first time” that he has insulted the Spanish Government.

“I am very sorry that the Spanish business community has accompanied Mr. Milei this weekend, knowing that it is not the first time that he has insulted the Spanish Government and probably knowing what the Argentine president was going to say. I think it has been a serious mistake,” said Díaz.

“You have heard me speak many times about economic democracy and I believe that precisely what we have witnessed this weekend, with the insults to the Government of Spain by Mr. Milei and the Spanish business community, with the head of the employers’ association at the head, well indicates a little about what we are talking about. The answer I have to give you is that, more than ever, we must advance social justice and, above all, more than ever, we must work to expand democracy in Spain. “Díaz stressed.

In his opinion, “it is no coincidence” that Milei “and the forces that accompany him” met this weekend in Madrid. “More social justice, more rights for workers and also more economic democracy,” said Díaz.

The second vice president of the Government and leader of Sumar made these statements upon her arrival at an informative breakfast organized by Nueva Economía Forum, where she presented the head of Sumar’s list for the European elections, Galan Star.

For his part, the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendihas expressed his “outright” rejection of the “out of character” statements made this weekend in Madrid by the Argentine president, Javier Milei, against the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez.

“We profoundly reject out-of-tone statements, not in a diplomatic message, which is what must be had between two friendly countries, against the president of the Government and against the president’s wife. It is not the place nor the place, no This is what is asked of two brother countries,” said Garamendi in statements to the SER chain collected by Europa Press.

For the leader of the CEOE, “it makes absolutely no sense to attack” the president of the Spanish Government and to do so in Spain. Garamendi recalled that Spanish businessmen have “very large” interests in Argentina, with an investment of 18,000 million euros that makes them the main European investor and the second in the world. “It is very important, and it is something that seems to be failing and lacking lately, institutional loyalty,” Garamendi also highlighted when asked about Milei’s statements at an event organized by Vox.

Regarding the meeting with Spanish businessmen, Garamendi pointed out that these types of meetings are common and of a professional nature. “These meetings with Ibero-American presidents who stop in Spain are common. We did the same the day before with the president of Ecuador. The Argentine embassy invited the representatives of the companies and invited the CEOE. It was an absolutely economical and interesting meeting and the Argentine president proposed what could be done to improve. It was a professional meeting. It was nothing more than that. They talked about the economy and the companies raised their problems,” Garamendi explained in this regard.

The leader of the Spanish employers’ association has also stated that businessmen have been saying for five years that “they do not like radicalism or extreme radicalism.” “We are not going to enter into an electoral campaign (…) For years we have asked for moderation, tranquility. Every time there is a rally we hear harsh words that do not help coexistence,” he commented on the political situation.

Abascal accuses the PP of making “clamps” with the PSOE against Milei

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has accused the PP of “joining” the PSOE against the president of Argentina and has demanded that the ‘popular’ leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóoto put an end to the “scam” and “immediately” break its relations with the PSOE at the national and international level.

As Abascal lamented this Monday in a press conference, the PP “has once again joined the grip of the PSOE and its media against important international leaders”, something that, in his opinion, shows that the ‘popular’ ” “they don’t understand” the international situation.

Specifically, he has been the institutional vice-secretary of the PP, Esteban González Ponswho this Monday reproached Milei for insulting Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, during her speech at the Vox event this weekend, considering it an “interference in national politics.”

“The PP has serious difficulties in choosing allies, not only in Spain, but also globally,” Abascal lamented and asked the ‘popular’ to “rectify” and stop “swindling” the Spaniards.
