A young girl who went missing while on her way to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Lagos has been found safe in Ogun State.
According to reports, the girl had left her home in Epe, Lagos State, with the intention of staying overnight with a relative in Ajah, as her examination was scheduled for early the next morning. However, she never arrived at her destination. Before her disappearance, she sent a disturbing message to her sister stating that she was scared, had possibly entered the wrong vehicle, and was feeling drowsy.
Her family immediately raised alarm and began searching for her, with her brother sharing her information widely on social media. The situation gained public attention quickly, prompting widespread concern and calls for assistance.
After several hours of worry and searching, good news finally came when she was found alive in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Her family, overwhelmed with relief, expressed gratitude to everyone who helped in the search efforts and prayed for her safety.
The incident has since sparked conversations about the safety of students during major examinations. Many concerned individuals are questioning the practice of scheduling exams at very early hours, which forces students to travel during unsafe times. They are calling for authorities to prioritize the safety and security of students, especially during critical national examinations.
Thankfully, the young girl has been safely reunited with her family, and her story serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance, proper planning, and improved security measures for young candidates across the country.
